What This Blog is About

This blog is about bodybuilder Anthony Marmon, who at the time of this writing is undeniably one of the top, national-level, amateur bodybuilders in the United States.

I have been privileged to photograph Anthony during at least the last five years. You'll see a lot of those photos as I dig through my archive of more than 250,000 photos and pull out Anthony's.

Anthony combined the physique of an advanced bodybuilder with the good looks of a model and an easy-going personality. This combination isn't as frequent as you might think it is in bodybuilding circles.

Anthony started bodybuilding in 1987, urged on and mentored by his cousin Gordon Kimbrough. Before that Anthony had been a boxer, practicing at King's Boxing Gym on 35th Street in Oakland, California. He describes this as "off and on, between1982 and 1987."

Before continuing material about Anthony's bodybuilding career, I would like to show you a few photos we took at an Emeryville gym a year or two ago when Anthony wanted to create his boxing days.

  1. You've got to be really resolute and have a great deal of genetic good fortune to look like Anthony.

  2. Snowbrush, you are right on the mark when you say that you must be very resolute to get a body as good as Anthony's. Genetics is of major importance. However, even if you have almost no genetics to be well built, if you work out resolutely and regularly with weights, you can still have a physique way above average.
